Delete a project

This topic provides procedures to delete your project in the PDS platform.

• The Account Admin has permissions to delete any project in the PDS platform.
• The Project Admin has permissions to delete only their assigned projects.
  For more information about the roles and corresponding access permissions, refer to the RBAC section.

Delete a project with active resources

important

• Disassociating resources (such as Clusters, Namespaces, Backup Locations, Templates, and Schedule Policies) is not mandatory for the deletion of a project. However, cleaning up application resources (such as data services, backups) is mandatory.
• When a project with active infrastructure resource associations is deleted, only the associations are removed. The resources will continue to exist in the control plane.

Follow these steps to properly delete a project that has active resources:

1. In the Projects page, find the project that you wish to delete.
2. Click on the vertical ellipsis menu icon next to the project, and choose the Delete option.
3. In the Active resources found under (project-name) project window, select the View Details button.
4. In the Details page -> left pane, click on Namespaces, Backup Locations, and so on to view a list of active resources associated with the project.
5. Navigate to each listed resource and either delete it or dissociate it from the project. Ensure that no active resources remain associated with the project.
6. Once all resources are deleted or dissociated, click on Back to Project (on the top left of the Details page) to return to the project settings.
7. Select the Delete option again on the project.
8. In the Delete Project window -> Project Name text box, enter the name of the project you wish to delete.
9. Select the Delete button.

Deleting a project is irreversible and will remove all associated data and configurations. Before deleting a project, ensure that all resources within the project are moved or deleted as the project cannot be removed until it is empty.

Delete a project without active resources

To delete a project without any active resources associated with the project:

1. Ensure that all resources associated with the project are either deleted or dissociated. In the Projects page, find the project that you wish to delete.
2. Click on the vertical ellipsis menu icon next to the project, and choose the Delete option.
3. In the Delete Project window -> Project Name text box, enter the name of the project you wish to delete.
4. Select the Delete button.
