Cluster prerequisites
Portworx Backup allows you to add the following type of application with Add cluster option in the web console:
-
Cloud clusters
- AKS cluster
- EKS cluster
- GKE cluster
- IBM IKS cluster
- IBM ROKS cluster
-
On premises clusters
- Kubernetes clusters with CSI driver
- OCP cluster
- Rancher cluster
- TKGS cluster
Before you initiate a generic or KDMP or cross-cloud backup, ensure that you allocate additional buffer storage that is double the size of the original Persistent Volume Claim (PVC) in your application cluster.
Topics in the following sections provide you with the prerequisites to be met before you add these clusters in the Portworx Backup web console:
📄️ AKS cluster prerequisites
This topic outlines the required permissions, actions, and prerequisites to manage and install Portworx Backup on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters.
📄️ EKS cluster prerequisites
This topic outlines the necessary prerequisites for adding an Amazon EKS cluster to Portworx Backup. It provides details on the IAM role permissions required for managing EKS resources and S3 storage operations.
📄️ GKE cluster prerequisites
This topic explains the prerequisites needed to add a GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) cluster to Portworx Backup. These prerequisites include ensuring that the necessary GCP role permissions are set, generating the kubeconfig for GKE clusters, and configuring the required service accounts.
📄️ IKS cluster prerequisite
This topic outlines the prerequisites required before adding an IBM IKS (IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service) cluster to Portworx Backup.
📄️ OCP cluster prerequisites
This topic outlines the prerequisites for adding an OpenShift (OCP) cluster to Portworx Backup. Ensure that the following requirements are met before proceeding with the installation and setup.
📄️ Rancher cluster prerequisite
This topic provides a comprehensive guide to the prerequisites necessary for adding a Rancher cluster to Portworx Backup. It covers the installation requirements, Rancher-specific credentials, and permissions, as well as guidelines for project mapping during custom restores
📄️ TKGS cluster prerequisites
Prerequisites
📄️ Kubernetes cluster prerequisites
This topic outlines the prerequisites for adding a Kubernetes cluster that uses the CSI (Container Storage Interface) driver for taking backups. These instructions apply specifically to Kubernetes clusters using a CSI driver for snapshots and restores, and they ensure compatibility with Portworx Backup.
