End of Life and Sunset Notification

Portworx Data Services (PDS) has reached End of Life, and will officially sunset on March 31, 2026.

Documentation for Portworx Data Services will not be available after March 31, 2026.

Key dates and implications

End of Life and sunset date: March 31, 2026 marks the sunset of PDS. After this date, it will no longer receive updates, patches, technical support, or documentation support.

Portworx Data Services control plane and associated services will also no longer be available. This includes various network services/endpoints listed here.

What PDS sunset means for existing workloads

After March 31, 2026, the Portworx Data Services (PDS) control plane and its associated services/endpoints will be decommissioned. This has important implications for how you operate any workloads that were originally provisioned through PDS.

Running databases and applications

Database instances and applications that are already running on your own Kubernetes infrastructure can continue to run, subject to the health and life cycle of the underlying clusters and storage. However, you will no longer be able to use the PDS UI, APIs, or automation to create, scale, upgrade, or delete those instances, or to modify their configuration.

Loss of PDS management and automation

The PDS control plane UI and APIs (hosted/running on cloud.portworx.io) will be permanently unavailable. Any operations that previously depended on PDS (for example: instance lifecycle management, configuration changes, or PDS-based monitoring and observability) will no longer function. Integrations or tools that call PDS endpoints will fail once those endpoints are removed.

DNS and connectivity considerations

For environments where PDS previously managed DNS records (for example via Route53), the records will no longer be automatically updated after the control plane is decommissioned. Over time, PDS-managed DNS entries might become stale or invalid if the underlying infrastructure changes.

We strongly recommend that you migrate any PDS-managed DNS records to your own DNS infrastructure using PDS DNS configuration functionality and take full ownership of those records before March 31, 2026, to ensure continued connectivity to your databases.

Configuration and templates

Before the sunset date, you can request exports of configuration metadata (such as application configuration templates or resource settings) associated with your PDS account. If you need such exports to assist with migration or re-creation of services under your own management, contact your Pure Storage representative or support as early as possible so this can be completed prior to March 31, 2026.

Next steps and call to action

Complete your migration away from Portworx Data Services prior to March 31, 2026. If you have remaining workloads or need guidance on running services independently of PDS, contact your Pure Storage account team or support to plan and validate your approach well ahead of the sunset date.
