Observability

PX-CSI provides built-in observability features to help you monitor the health of the PX-CSI deployment, collect metrics, and send diagnostic information to Pure Storage support. Observability ensures that both cluster operators and Pure Support can detect issues quickly and maintain system reliability.

Telemetry to Pure1

Telemetry, also known as callhome, enables PX-CSI to automatically send cluster diagnostics and plugin logs to Pure1. This feature allows Pure Support to proactively detect issues and accelerate troubleshooting.

Telemetry data includes cluster identity, status, resource usage, component versions, storage backends, and PX-CSI logs.

For more information, see Telemetry to Pure1.

Monitoring with Prometheus

PX-CSI integrates with Prometheus to expose metrics about driver health, API latencies, and storage usage. By default, PX-CSI deploys Prometheus components in the portworx namespace.

These metrics can be viewed in the Prometheus UI or integrated with your existing observability stack (for example, Grafana and Alertmanager).

For more information, see Monitor PX-CSI with Prometheus.

Use cases

  • Use telemetry when you want proactive support and fleet-wide insights in Pure1.
  • Use Prometheus monitoring when you need real-time visibility into cluster operations and to integrate PX-CSI with your monitoring stack.

Together, these capabilities provide comprehensive cluster-level observability for PX-CSI deployments.
